May 2007: history HL/SL paper 2 (10/05/2007)
The IB wishes to apologize for an error in the production of the May 2007 history HL/SL paper 2. The questions in this paper are those from the May 2005 session. This error arose because of wrongly identifying alternative examination papers created for the May 2005 session. A spare paper should have been forwarded for use in the May 2007 session, but in its place the actual May 2005 paper was used by mistake. This is of course highly regrettable.

At the grade award meeting for history close attention will be paid to the results for all schools with the aim of identifying anomalies in the results for this assessment component. For example, comparisons will be made with candidates’ performance on other components and in comparison with the teachers’ predicted grades. Where differentials can be linked to prior experience of the paper, an adjustment to the marks awarded will be considered.

edit: sorry i should have said something about the source. i got it from the ibscrewed forums, http://www.ibscrewed.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13102&start=25. the poster claims to have gotten it from the IBO online curriculum centre forums, which i can't log into bc i don't have an account or something. i'll probably confirm it today at school.

Dang, that's a pretty huge mistake.

Although I have to say the questions were pretty much the best questions I could have gotten, I hadn't studied at all really, and the topics in 2005 happened to be the better ones I guess.

HAHAH I knew the questions looked familiar, but I was pretty sure IB just recycled them so that was not surprising to me.
Oh wowww.

Where'd you find that? I can't find the source at the IBO website.

NOO, I was counting on paper 2 to balance out my shitty essays for paper 3.

Heh, yes, the questions were very familiar. I really hope their markscheme doesn't count negatively to my rather expert answers :S

Hey,
I'd really appreciate if you could get the source. My entire history class is freaking out.

That sucks. I thought students couldn't be punished for the mistakes of teachers/organisations.

well if everyone did ok in their Internal Assessments and their other papers, then i guess we'll be ok

but we shouldnt have to suffer for something the IB did....

can we get a source on that quote?

There's no issue, no problem unless paper 2 is significantly better than your predicted, and/or other papers and IA.
